Latest UAE Labor Laws 2022 introduced on Feb 02, 2022. That labor law is enforced in all over UAE. It includes Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah. So the Labor Laws of 1980 came to an end.

In and address, UAE Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization, His Excellence Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Awar, explains the need of latest UAE labor Laws 2022. He says that it will make the world’s largest market more attractive by balancing the relationships of both parties, employer and employee.

He further explains the law. he says it will result in 12 types of work permits. And it will give 6 types of work models.

Work Models According to New UAE Labor Laws & Working Hours:

  1. Employment with one employer for the entire daily working hours.
  2. Part-time employment to work with one or more employers.
  3. Temporary work i.e. work that, due to the nature of its performance, requires a certain amount of time. That ends with its completion.
  4. Flexible work i.e. in this the hours and days of working vary according to workload. It also depends on the operational and business needs of the employer.
  5. Remote Work i.e. work does off-site. So there is no need of physical presence in office or work site. It can be part-time or full-time.
  6. Job-sharing model i.e. tasks and responsibilities are divided among several workers to complete pre-agreed tasks. This reflects in the amount of remuneration that belongs to each of them. So that, it is proportionate. Such workers are treated according to the rules for part-time work.

Types of Work Permits in UAE 2022:

According to latest UAE Labor Laws 2022, there are 12 categories of work permit in UAE as following:

  1. Temporary work permit
  2. Mission permit
  3. Part-time work permit
  4. Juvenile permit
  5. Student training permit
  6. Emirati GCC Citizen permit
  7. Golden visa holder permit
  8. National training permit
  9. Freelance permit
  10. Employment work permit
  11. Transfer work permit
  12. Family work permit

Pay & Leaves According to New UAE Labor Laws 2022:

So the pay, gratuity, annual leaves, and working hours depend on the type of permit one has. As the new labor laws guarantees the rights to both the contracting parties.

employees are entitled for 5 days leave in the event of death of husband or wife. 3 days leave in case of death of mother, father, one of the sons, sister, brother, grandmother, grandfather or grandchildren. 5 days maternity leave to both mother or father of baby. 10 days leave for taking examination.
